What treatment types are available for crooked teeth?

Having crooked teeth is not simply an aesthetic concern, it can impact your oral health too.

Unarguably, having crooked teeth can lead to deep insecurities – your teeth are the first thing people notice about you and so usually the first thing they use to base their judgement on you.

The good news is that with technological advancements and a team of highly-skilled and experienced dentists like we have at The Perfect Smile, it is easier than ever to fix crooked teeth and enhance your smile.

Some people believe braces are the only solution for crooked teeth, and although we offer many different types of braces, this is definitely not the only treatment available.

For minor issues – bonding is the best solution

Small gaps, overlapping teeth or even edges can be addressed using minor non-invasive procedures such as contouring and bonding.

Bonding (a process of adding tooth-coloured resin to the original tooth) can be used to reshape the front of the back of the teeth – by adding additional matter to the tooth, it means the teeth will fall more in line with the surrounding teeth.

This process leaves a more aesthetically pleasing, straight line of teeth.

Bonding can be used to target chipped or discoloured teeth too.

Invisalign

The use of orthodontic treatment to target crooked teeth is of course the most effective option.

However, many people do not want to commit to this time period, even though we have options like 6 month smiles now which means the procedure is faster than ever.

Using braces to target crooked teeth means you can keep your natural teeth which makes it the safest and most long-lasting solution.

Invisalign is the perfect solution for patients who have overcrowded or even those who have a degree of wide spacing between teeth.

The great thing about Invisalign  is that the braces are almost invisible, so you get the benefits of a beautiful straight smile, without having to endure the period of wearing ‘train track’ braces.

Can I get veneers if I have crooked teeth?

Yes! Veneers are actually a great solution for those whose teeth are too crooked to be effectively straightened through Invisalign.

Porcelain veneers are applied to the front of your teeth, and give the illusion of natural, straight, white teeth. With veneers you have the freedom to choose the shape, size, shade of white etc.
