Headgear Orthodontics
Although we rarely prescribe this type of appliance to our patients as a better alternative option is available, but sometimes we find no other option except using Headgears. Headgears are used in the treatment of adolescents.
Headgear is an appliance that can be attached to a neck strap or head cap from one side and to the top back teeth from the other side.
It is usually used to move the back teeth backwards to make more space or to stop them from moving forward whilst the front teeth are being straightened.
According to the orthodontist’s prescription, it is used for around 8-14 hours per day.
