Look great and feel wonderful.
Dermal fillers treatments can contour and create volume, fill out lines and wrinkles and revitalise the skin. Dr Sheila uses non-permanent and dissolvable dermal fillers made up of Hyaluronic acid, which is also naturally found in the body’s tissues.
The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for around 6 to 9 months.
6 to 9 months value
Dermal fillers can smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, create fuller lips and shape facial contours, such as cheeks and chin, and revitalise the skin. The typical dermal filler products used by Dr Sheila are Teosyal, Belotero & Juvederm.
How do dermal fillers work?
Throughout the ageing process, we lose some of the skin’s ‘building blocks’ such as collagen and fat, which are the materials that prevent to skin becoming loose and saggy, allowing fine lines and wrinkles to appear. As we age, our skin becomes thinner and visible lines and wrinkles start to appear. The facial bones and fat pads begin to shrink, accelerating the creation of folds and deep wrinkles.
The dermal filler acts as a replacement for the lost fat and helps to restore our skin to its former youthful appearance. Hyaluronic further attracts water, hydrating and revitalizing the area in which it is injected into.
Dr Sheila carefully injects the dermal filler into different layers of the skin depending on the patient’s needs and the dermal filler selected.
This is why it is important to have a consultation with Dr Sheila, so she can assess your needs and advise the appropriate treatment for the results you wish to achieve.
how long do dermal fillers last?
The effects of dermal filler usually last from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the dermal filler used and the treatment carried out. Results vary from patient to patient. Dr Sheila will advise on the appropriate treatment and how long she expects your treatment to last.
Are dermal fillers safe?
There are many Dermal Fillers on the market. Dr Sheila only uses trusted and reputable dermal fillers with high safety profiles. These include Teosyal, Belotero and Juvederm products. These brands are scientifically documented hyaluronic based dermal fillers with comprehensive studies that support their safety and efficacy.
Are there any risks with dermal fillers?
As with any medical procedure, potential side effects should be fully explained to you before the treatment. Most of these are injection-related such as a risk of temporary bruising around the injection site, swollen facial features during the initial healing period and infection at the injection site.
These risks are higher when treatments are performed in unsterile environments and with inexperienced or unqualified practitioners. The side effects and risks associated with dermal fillers will be discussed comprehensively at your consultation.
Is there any downtime?
Mild bruising and swelling can occur in the first 3-5 days, which may be covered with make-up.

are dermal fillers painful?
Dr Sheila only uses dermal fillers that contain the anaesthetic lidocaine, which helps to reduce discomfort. A topical anaesthetic can also be applied prior to the procedure to minimise any further discomfort.
The majority of patients find the injections tolerable with slight initial discomfort. Discomfort can be higher if an inexperienced practitioner is carrying out the treatment.
When will i see results?
Results can be seen immediately with continued skin rehydration and rejuvenation as water is drawn into the area.

what does dermal filler treatment involve?
Before:
During the initial consultation, Dr Sheila will discuss your treatment needs and expectations. After this, she will recommend the treatment that is most suitable for you and discusses the risks and benefits of the treatment. You will be given the opportunity to ask questions about the treatment too, and time to go away and think about the treatment. Photographs will also be taken for your records during the consultation.
If you choose to make an appointment to proceed with treatment, on the treatment day, Dr Sheila will ask you to fill out a consent form and medical history before treatment can proceed. A topical anaesthetic will be applied 20-30 minutes prior to your treatment should you wish.
During
After fully cleansing the skin, a dermal filler is injected in small amounts using a very fine needle or cannula. Dr Sheila may also use the Teosyal pen in most cases, which helps to further reduce discomfort.
The treatment time is usually between 20-30 minutes.
After
Results are seen immediately, there will also be some swelling and redness in the sites injected which will resolve in a couple of days. Dr Sheila may also arrange for you to come back for a follow-up appointment within 2-3 weeks.
Following your treatment you can expect some local swelling and maybe bruising, a cold compress may help ease this, and arnica cream may be recommended to encourage the bruise to heal faster. Dr Sheila will ask that you avoid any vigorous exercise or sun exposure for 24-48hrs. Some medications may be better avoided to ensure optimum healing too. All this information will be given to you in more detail both verbally and in writing during your treatment.
will i look unnatural after treatment?
Dr Sheila believes “less is more” and will only inject what is needed to achieve a natural look. Her goal is not to make you look different but a healthier, refreshed version of yourself.
